Poly how to factory reset the VVX series

This article discusses how to factory reset a Polycom deskphone.

Performing a factory reset on a Polycom deskphone reverts the settings to the factory default and deletes all stored information. Possible scenarios where you need to reset the deskphone include:

Using the default password

  1. Press the 
    Home
     button.

  2. Go to 
    Settings > Advanced
    .

  3. Enter the default admin password. The default admin password is 
    456
    .
  4. Go to 
    Administration Settings > Reset to Factory
    .
  5. Select 
    Yes
     to confirm.

Wait for the phone to reboot. Once done, the device will restart with factory settings.

Using the MAC address

If resetting the deskphone with the default admin password fails, you can use the MAC address.

  1. Look on the back of your deskphone for the MAC address. It will be a 12-digit alphanumeric code on a sticker.
  2. Unplug the power or network cable from the deskphone.
  3. Plug the deskphone back in.
  4. Press the 
    Cancel
     button.
  5. Press and hold down the following keys:
    • Model
      : VVX 101. 201, 301, 311, 400, 401, 410, 500, 501. 600, 601
    • Keys
      : 1, 3, 5
  6. When prompted for an admin password, use the keypad to enter the MAC address as the password.
    • If correct, you can reset the phone.
    • If wrong, press 
      Cancel
       to return to the password prompt and try again.
