To send SMS text messages from a business phone number, there is a new regulation enforced by the FCC. This regulation mandates that the number must undergo a registration process to verify the legitimacy of the business sending these messages. The registration process involves two main steps:
Note: Access to Messaging Registration Center is restricted to Admin role users only. So might be time to call your IT person with admin rights and have them access the registration section and walk through these steps, (bring coffee, they'll appreciate it 😃)
Once your logged in follow these step to navigate to the message registration page
1. Click on Settings
2. Click on Messaging Registration Center
3. Click on REGISTER YOUR BRAND
4. Register your brand
The first step in setting up 10DLC is to register your brand/company. There is a one-time registration fee to register your company to prove your company.
Important: Please make sure to have your Tax ID and registered company name and address before starting this step. Inaccurate details can result in The Campaign Registry denying or delaying your registration.
After The Campaign Registry has verified the company information that you provided, you can create a 10DLC campaign.
A 10DLC campaign contains information about your use case. During this step of the process, you’ll be required to provide details about how you’re using SMS along with a few sample messages.
In most cases, 10DLC campaign approval is instantaneous. In some cases (such as lending or marketing messages), you might be required to provide more details.
After your 10DLC campaign is approved, you’ll need to associate phone numbers from your account with it. (Recall: Only phone numbers associated with an active campaign can send SMS messages...)
Each phone number can only be associated with a single 10DLC campaign. Campaigns are limited to maximum of 49 phone numbers.
VERY IMPORTANT Given that these steps are mandated by government law, it is crucial to adhere to them diligently. Failure to follow these steps could result in the rejection of your request. Therefore, strict compliance with the brand and campaign registration processes is essential to ensure that you can legally send SMS text messages from your business phone number in accordance with the FCC regulations. 10DLC - Best Practices (TPRN Registration)
