What you need

  • An iPhone or Android phone with Wi-Fi or mobile data.
  • Your EmpireUC softphone details from Empire Telecom: SIP server, SIP user ID, authentication ID, password and voicemail number. They are different from your desk phone and your portal sign-in. If you don't have them, ask Empire Telecom (details at the bottom of this page).

1. Download the app

1Open the App Store on an iPhone, or Google Play on Android.
2Search for Grandstream Wave Lite. The publisher is Grandstream Networks and the app is free.
3Tap Get (iPhone) or Install (Android), then open the app.
4When the app asks, allow the microphone and notifications. On Android, also allow phone calls.

Note: without the microphone the other person can't hear you, and without notifications calls may not ring.

2. Add your EmpireUC line

1Tap Settings at the bottom right, then Account Settings.
2Tap +. Under Generic Account, choose SIP Account. Skip the list of VoIP providers.
3Fill in the fields from your EmpireUC softphone details (see the table below).
4Tap the check mark at the top right to save.

1Tap Keypad at the bottom.
2At the top right you'll see your extension with a green dot (2). Green means the line is connected and ready.
3If you set up more than one line, tap your extension to choose which line your calls go out on (3).

If the line won't connect

  • Open the account again and retype the password and SIP server carefully.
  • Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data. Some guest Wi-Fi blocks calls.
  • Close the app fully and open it again.
